Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Here you will find answers to questions that have frequently been asked by users of ZenChain and its dApps. If you don't find an answer to your question here or elsewhere in the docs, we encourage you to join the ZenChain Discord Community for support.
Faucet
Q: Why am I seeing the message "Access to the testnet is currently limited"?
A: To use the faucet, you must first join the testnet waitlist. You can join the waitlist at https://www.zenchain.io/waitlist. Then you can revisit the faucet receive ZCX by entering the same wallet address that you used in the waitlist.
Q: Do I need to wait for approval after joining the waitlist?
A: There is no approval needed for now. As soon as you are on the waitlist, you can access the faucet and get started!
Q: When I provide an X (Twitter) URL linking to an X post, it shows “Please enter a valid X URL so we can verify your post.”
A: Make sure your post URL is in the following format: https://x.com/<username>/status/<id>
Q: When I provide an X (Twitter) URL linking to an X post, it shows “The provided X URL links to the wrong post.”
A: Make sure to share on X without changing the automatically generated post content.
Q: I get an “unauthorized” error on the faucet when I enter my wallet address.
A: Please wait for some time and try again later.
Node Station
Q: I see my validator node has been in a pending state for a long time.
A: The most likely cause is that you didn't input your payment information on your cloud provider’s website (currently only OnFinality is supported).
Q: I am shown that my rewards were claimed even though I didn’t claim them.
A: Your rewards will be automatically distributed to you if your nominated validator or another one of their nominators claims theirs. You receive the rewards even though you didn't have to claim them yourself. You can learn more in our Staking Guide.
Q: How can I self-host a node?
A: You can host a node on your own, either with another cloud provider or on your home server. You can find more information in our Self-Hosting Guide
Q: Why does my node status say "Waiting" on the "Validators" page?
A: The "Waiting" designation can mean a few things:
-
At the start of each session, until your node is selected to produce its first block of the session, your node's status will say "Waiting". Your node's status will switch to "Active" around the middle of the session, even if your node hasn't yet produced a block, so long as your node is online.
-
Nodes are selected to participate in each era through an "election" algorithm that selects validators based on factors like the amount of ZCX they and their nominators have staked. If you have few nominators and relatively little staked ZCX, you may have to increase your stake or wait for more users to nominate you before your node becomes active. You can learn more in our Staking Guide.
Q: Why does my node status say "Offline" on the "Validators" page?
A: The "Offline" designation can mean a few things:
-
If you are a new validator, your node will be "Offline" until the start of the next era.
-
If your node otherwise says it is offline, please make sure you have set your session keys.
-
If your session keys are set, please try restarting your node.
Q: I am getting an error while trying to stake. Help!
A: If the loading spinner is visible in the app's navigation bar at the top of the page, it means the app hasn't fully loaded yet. Please wait for the spinner to disappear and then try staking again. If that spinner doesn't disappear and there are no internet connection issues on your end, the app may be experiencing unexpected technical issues.
ZenQuest
Q: I connected my wallet and completed quests, but then I lost access to my ZenChain account. Can I use another account and complete the quests again?
A: We do not currently support changing ZenChain accounts. If you lose access to your account, you may not be able to complete all the quests. We recommend securely storing your account mnemonic, provided to you when you first generated the account, so you can retain access to your account even if you lose access to your wallet. Using your account mnemonic, you can import your account into any wallet on any device.
Q: Can I use the same GitHub, Telegram, Discord, and X (Twitter) account for completing quests on different ZenChain accounts?
A: Every user who signs up needs to complete the quests with a unique account for ZenChain, GitHub, Discord, Telegram, and X (Twitter) to receive points. The same social media accounts cannot be used with different ZenChain addresses.
Q: What is the referral limit?
A: Currently the limit is 50 referrals.
